iraqi dinar
Jaysh asked:

We have $600 (American) dollars worth of Iraqi Dinars (the new Iraqi currency) that was bought for us as an investment/gift.

I’m thinking that we might as well get rid of it now, because things are so uncertain in Iraq. At least we’ll get back the $600 that were spent to buy the Iraqi money.

My thinking is that, even if things improve in Iraq, and it becomes a stable country with a stable economy, the value of the money will not improve significantly.

But if we hold onto it, and things do not improve, or if the Democrats get into power and bring the troops back, then I can see the money completely losing its value, and the entire $600 investment will be lost.

Therefore, my thinking is to get rid of the money now, while we still can, because the likelihood of it increasing greatly in value is small, and the possibility of it losing its value entirely is substantial.

What do you think? Should I hold onto it, or get rid of it now?
